Parent Presentations
No matter how good natural parenting skills are, how loving families are, or how safe and secure the home environment is, young people are exposed to many challenges when outside the home.
Whether these be through direct experience or through introduction by friends they will encounter; bullying, smoking, binge-drinking, drug taking, sexual promiscuity and other unwholesome behaviours which may lead to low educational achievement, addiction, low self-esteem, eating disorders, depression and self-harming to name but some.
Educating students to avoid, resist and recover from such pitfalls is not the sole domain of schools. Evidence suggests that parents have a vital role to play at home by influencing a positive attitude and behaviour from an early age and are vital in helping their children in making some of their most critical health and wellbeing decisions of their lives.
The aim of these presentations is to share Karen Richardson’s experience and provide parents with information and a knowledge base to identify the early signs of unwholesome behaviour and educate and appropriately support their children ensuring they are best prepared to face the negative challenges ahead.
